Meals for the NHS

Recognise the Real Heroes

The charity initiative “Meals for the NHS” started with a group of friends becoming increasingly concerned about overwhelmed and overworked NHS staff battling COVID-19.

With 14-hour shifts, no access to food after hospital canteens closed and lockdown restrictions making it almost impossible to find a meal outside hospital walls, the group came up with the idea to send free meals from local kitchens and restaurants into hospitals.

The team approached us with a loose brief; to create a film for the Meals of NHS website which would be shared on their website and across social media to drive awareness and encourage donations. We navitaged lockdown restrictions by using a number of film makers in the Collective who shot in their own homes and local areas. We also used archive and stock footage to tie the story together and result in an emotive, voice-over led film.

Between March and July the campaign raised £1.8 million from 17,000 donors and delivered 300,000 meals to frontline workers.
